The University of Amsterdam (UvA) is the largest university in the Netherlands as well as one of the largest research universities in Europe. Today, it has more than 31,000 students, over 5,000 staff, more than 100 nationalities and an annual budget of more than 600 million euros. The university is also a core member of the League of EU Research Universities. It currently hosts the center of excellence ‘Gravitation and AstroParticle Physics Amsterdam’, or GRAPPA, a joint initiative of the Institute of Physics and the Anton Pannekoek Institute for Astronomy.
