Ari Asmi (PhD, eMBA) obtained his PhD from the University of Helsinki on atmospheric physics, leading to strong frustration on access and use of research data and other outputs. To remedy this, he has for the last decade worked on creation and development of European community of environmental research infrastructures ENVRI, developing better common ground for research data interoperability. He has led and contributed on several projects on that field, such as RISCAPE initiative to analyse the global research infrastructure landscape and ENVRI FAIR, where he as co-coordinator was responsible for development of common policy framework in the context of EOSC.  Recently, he has started as the new director of the Research Data Alliance (Europe) association, where he continues the work for Open Science and Open data from a slightly different viewpoint.
